The Home They’ve Always Wanted: Laura and Mark’s Journey to a Custom Schumacher Home

Laura and Mark were excited but also apprehensive when they began the build process with Schumacher Homes. They knew that building a custom home from the ground up would be a huge undertaking.

The couple had rented apartments and small houses over the years. But with two growing kids and busy lives, they were ready for more space and their own backyard. Laura dreamed of a cozy farmhouse style home, while Mark wanted a man cave space of his own. With different wish lists in mind, their journey to find the perfect family home began.

Laura and Mark had a clear vision for their dream home. They imagined a spacious, open floor plan with lots of natural light. A large kitchen was high on their priority list, as they loved to cook and entertain. They wanted a big island in the kitchen with bar seating. An open dining room that flowed into the living room was also important.

For the master suite, they envisioned a spa-like bathroom with a soaking tub and large walk-in shower. A big walk-in closet was a must as well. In terms of location, they hoped for a quiet neighborhood with a big backyard and trees. Curb appeal mattered too – they wanted a home with beautiful, modern architecture on the outside.

Overall, their perfect home centered around hosting family and friends. It needed to have a welcoming, relaxed vibe with flexible spaces for entertaining. Of course, smart home technology was important too. They wanted the latest gadgets to control lighting, temperature and security. Laura and Mark spent time gathering inspiration images and planning out their wish list. This vision board of sorts helped them define their dream home goals.

The initial planning and design phase took about 2 months. This involved finalizing the floor plans, selecting finishes, appliances, fixtures and other details. Laura and Mark worked closely with their design consultant and made many trips to the design center to view samples and make selections.

Once the permits were secured, the lot was prepared and the foundation was poured within a few weeks. Framing began shortly after and the house really began to take shape. Laura and Mark were thrilled to walk through the wood skeleton of their future home.

Over the next 4 months, the house transformed week by week. The roof went on, mechanicals were installed, windows and doors were put in. Drywall, paint, tile, cabinets, countertops all followed in quick succession. Laura could barely keep up with the rapid changes as she drove by the construction site after work each day.

The final few weeks focused on finish details like trim, hardware, lighting fixtures and landscaping. After a thorough final inspection, the house was complete.

Laura and Mark were overjoyed when they received the keys and walked through their finished dream home for the first time. They were impressed with the high quality craftsmanship and attention to detail by Schumacher Homes.

After months of planning and construction, the new home was finally complete. As the family did a final walkthrough, they were thrilled with how their dream home had turned into reality.

The open concept main floor flowed seamlessly from the gourmet kitchen to the family room and dining area. Floor to ceiling windows let in an abundance of natural light and offered breathtaking views of the wooded surroundings. Upstairs, the luxurious primary suite felt like a personal retreat with its spa-like bathroom, while the secondary bedrooms were perfect for guests and their new baby.

Overall, the homeowners were extremely satisfied with the high-quality construction and beautiful finishings. Schumacher Homes exceeded their expectations in bringing their custom home vision to life. The personalized service and attention to detail resulted in a one-of-a-kind home that was truly their own.

Though the process had seemed long at times, the end result was everything they had hoped for, and more. They were thrilled to finally move into their dream home and begin making memories as a family.
